Mandsaur Tragedy: CM Mohan Yadav Announces Rs 2 Lakh Aid for Families of Accident Victims

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of 12 lives in the Mandsaur accident and announced financial assistance for the victims’ families.

The fatal incident occurred on Sunday when a speeding van, after colliding with a motorcycle, plunged into a deep well in the Narayangarh Police Station area of Mandsaur district. According to police, 12 people, including a biker and a brave rescuer, lost their lives.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Yadav announced ex gratia assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries, from the Chief Minister’s discretionary fund.

“Sad news has been received about the untimely death of twelve people due to a car falling into a deep well in a horrific road accident in Narayangarh,” the Chief Minister said. He also mentioned that rescue operations were swiftly conducted, and the injured were admitted to nearby hospitals.

“I pray to Baba Mahakal to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he added.

Mandsaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Anand confirmed the details of the accident, stating that while four individuals were rescued, 12 tragically lost their lives — 11 inside the well and one on the road after the collision.

“This is an extremely heart-wrenching incident, and we express our deepest sympathy to the affected families,” said SP Anand, adding that all legal formalities and post-mortem procedures are being completed.

The tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the region, with state officials assuring full support and assistance to the families of the victims.
